Sr. Director Global Category Lead, Biologics Materials and Packaging Category

This role will lead a team of sourcing professionals and responsible for the end-end Procurement activities for the Biologics Materials and Packaging category for Janssen Supply Chain. This category has approximately $600 million annual spend and comprised of subcategories such as Media, Resin, Consumables, Drug Delivery Systems, and Packaging. This role will provide global direction for developing end-to-end leadership such as strategy development, maintaining key relationships with the business and managing key supplier relationships. The position must shape, connect and lead resources to deliver on key projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Procurement strategies that are aligned with the Janssen business needs including sourcing strategy, negotiations, contract implementation and performance against established targets (cost competitive, reliability, risk mitigation, sustainability, etc.)
  • Manage supplier relationships, communicate changes to category strategy, execute joint collaborative initiatives, and monitor supplier contract negotiations
  • Conduct performance reviews/serve as people manager. Lead and manage the team, including capability building and governance.
  • Represent Procurement at JSC Large Molecule leadership team.
  • Lead or sponsor multiple initiatives to improve reliability, resilience and agility.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience is required
  • Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas of focus (Spend Management: Category Management and Supplier Management).
  • Expertise in contracting, understanding regulatory, legal, compliance and commercial elements
  • Customer Orientation (building and maintaining strong relationships with JNJ senior Management
  • Strong level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community
  • Strong leadership, vison and strategy setting, communication, influencing, collaboration and talent development skills
  • Strong project and change management capabilities
  • Strong business acumen
  • Multi-county and Multi sector experience preferred with experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information
  • Ability to seek and drive continuous improvements
  • Ability to prioritize requests, and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives
  • Judgment in developing innovative approaches and resolving issues
  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., supplier management and performance, supply market analysis, Category Management, Procurement Excellence, etc.)
  • High level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community
  • Proven examples of delivering step function performance and ability to develop visions, strategies, etc. while managing reasonable risk
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., business, Finance, Procurement LT, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain); has "presence"
  • Proven track record in attracting and developing talent
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and executing significant influencing roles.
  • Significant business acumen and proven team building skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization can effectively and efficiently move through transitions
  • People Management experience is required.

  • This position may require up to 20% travel.
